Bat Recommendations - Dirt Dawgs

Hi All - we have seen a lot of illegal bats during practices and that is okay for now but wanted to let you know that AYL as well as tournaments have strict bat guidelines.
Dick's Bat Guide

Bat Drop
6U until 13U, the bat drop needs to be -10.
Meaning if the bat weighs 27 oz, the length would be 17 inches.

Stamps
AYL requires the bat has one of the following stamps:

Tournament Rules:
CABA - Any of the above Stamps. -10 to -3 allowed.
Triple Crown - Any of the above Stamps. -10 to -3 allowed.
USSSA - Must have USSSA or BBCOR (USA Baseball stamp does not help).

Barrel Size: IMPORTANT
Bigger the better!
Filter by barrel size when shopping. 2 3/4" is best, 2 5/8th is second best, under that is too skinny.

Weight:
Every kid is different so try different weights. Lighter has less power.
Swinging too heavy of a bat ruins everything. These are the averages I see but every kid is different. Ask to try other players' bats at practice or test out in the cage at Dicks.
Here is what I usually see:
6U - 25oz or 26 oz (Make sure the bat doesn't say TeeBall on it)
7U - 25 oz, 26 oz or 27 oz
8U - 26oz, 27oz or 28 oz
9U - 27 oz, 28oz or 29 oz
You can also find last year's models that are still great bats at Dicks in the Closeout bats section Click Here for Closeout Section

Everyone has opinions on brand, models etc and which bats are the best so I won't dive too far into it.

If you see a bat and are not confident if it is a good one to buy, send it to me and I will reply.

If you want to pool some parents together to do a team bat like the good ol' days, send a message in your team gamechanger and see if there is any interest.

Go Dawgs!
